- These instructions are specific to game play on this web site. Please know that I wrote Lexwords to be a challenging and fun word game that anyone can play. If you find bugs or have feedback and/or suggestions for improvements,
feel free to submit a comment or email me at support@lexiconzone.com.
- To create a game, login and then follow the "Create a New Game" link on the left side of this page.
Two, three and four player games are available.
For three or four player games you must select multiple opponents by holding down
the CTRL key while clicking on the person's name in the select box.
When a new game is created, emails are sent to all selected players to notify
them about the new game.
- To play your new game and view the board, follow the "Games in Progress" link on the left side of this page.
A list containing all of your games will appear. The game(s) in which you most recently took a turn will
appear at the top of the list. To play a game, click on the game name in the list. The game will appear
in a popup window. You may open more than one game window simultaneously.
- A game's players and respective scores are shown under the "Score" heading.
A green triangle next to a player's name indicates that it is that player's turn.
A red circle indicates that the player is not currently online.
A yellow circle indicates that the player is online and playing in a different game.
A green circle indicates that the player is online and playing in the current game.
- To place a word on the board, enter the word into the text box
under the "Enter Word/Letters" heading and then select a direction under the
"Choose Direction" heading. Finally, click the game grid in the square where the
word should start. (NOTE: I am looking to implement a drag and drop feature in the near future)
- To take a turn you must first place your word on the board and then hit the
"Play Word" button.
- If you have a BLANK tile in your rack, use a question mark "?" followed by the
designated letter when entering your word. For example, you have "abcdef" and a
BLANK in your rack and you want to make the word "crab". In this case you would enter "c?rab" into the text box.
- Tile usage scoring bonuses will be awarded as follows:
- A 25 point bonus will be added for using 7 of the 9 tiles in your rack on a single turn.
- A 50 point bonus will be added for using 8 of the 9 tiles in your rack on a single turn.
- A 100 point bonus will be added for using all 9 tiles in your rack on a single turn.
- To pass your turn, enter any tiles that you wish to exchange into the text box and hit the "Pass" button.
- That's about it as far as basic game play instructions. There are other features such as dictionary lookups, moveable rack tiles, and opponent messaging that should be easy to figure out.
Have fun!!
